The slot that could be used for feeding drawstring or elastic through a channel. Flat end measures 1/4″ for a quick measure of dream allowance, etc. It is a great little all purpose tool that works great. Highly recommend having it in your sewing kit for point turning, elastic threading, and using as a stiletto. Package Include:1PCS Purple Thang Quilting Tool
Question:What is the length?
Answer:It is about 15cm( 5.9inch).
Question:Does it bend, meaning flexible?
Answer:It has a little bit of a give, but not much. It will not bend in half without breaking.
Question:Are these heat-proof, for use while ironing? Answer:I don’t think they are heat proof so much. Question:Occasionally I use a straight pin to feed fabric evenly under the foot of my sewing machine, is this thin enough to do the same thing?
Answer:Yes, and the end has a slight curve to make it easier to hold down the fabric as you sew into the needle. No more accidentally getting a needle in a finger. Handy for getting thick seams to lay correctly as you sew. Great if you do small things, doll clothes, purses, etc. The other end is great for turning small corners. The center has a slit to pull a piece of elastic through a waistband or making crib sheets with elastic around the edges.
Question:How to use it?
Answer: When you have a difficult sewing task, like easing in gathers or multiple layers of fabric, you can use this thang tool to push the fabric forward under the pressure foot,or you can also use it to push out corners or to help in turning things inside out
