Children Of Bodom (drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppälä and keyboardist Janne Wirman) will continue their legacy with “Bodom Bar & Sauna”. Opening on November 10th in Espoo, Finland, the bar and sauna will feature a museum-like display of gear and memorabilia from Sons of Bodom’s long career.
“We toured extensively from 1998 to 2019,” the band wrote on Instagram. “We were in bars in almost every city we played. From the Hard Rock Cafe in Tokyo to dive bars in the suburbs of Milwaukee. From the legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill in West Hollywood to the Crobar in London, England, we were everywhere.”
“Almost everyone in our industry dreams of opening their own bar at some point, and we were no exception. As CoB’s career was coming to an end, we started thinking about it more seriously. We had a warehouse full of memorabilia, and we thought a lot of people would be interested in seeing some of the things that meant so much to us and the band’s career.”
“The idea of ​​a museum sounded a bit foreign, but at the time it seemed natural to open a bar that would also house our gear and memorabilia as a museum. We almost gave up on this dream when the power duo of Jukja Peltonen and Kimmo Helistö came along and shared their expertise. Together we will create this fantastic combination of a hard rock café and a dive bar with a strong Bodom twist. The new CoB headquarters will combine the museum and the bar, and will also provide an introduction to Finnish sauna culture. It will be located in Espoo, just a few minutes’ walk from where the band started.”
Bodom Bar & Sauna is being built in a convenient location in Espoo. The area will also house three saunas. Entrance to the bar is free, there is no age limit. Visiting the sauna is possible for an additional fee. The opening of the bar is scheduled for November 10, 2022.
