As Nordic wellness philosophies gain global traction, China’s burgeoning middle class is embracing winter sauna rituals—and fueling a surge in wool felt and polyester felt sauna hat imports. Cultural adaptation is also evident. Brands like SaunaMoon now offer polyester felt hats with traditional Chinese embroidery, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal. “We added adjustable straps for smaller head sizes common in Asia,” explains designer Zhang Mei.

However, challenges remain. Humidity control in urban saunas differs from Nordic dry heat, prompting debates about material suitability. A Shanghai spa owner notes, “Polyester holds up better in high-moisture environments, but wool feels more luxurious.” As winter sauna tourism grows in Harbin’s ice hotels, the fusion of Eastern and Western gear trends is reshaping the market.
