Quick! How many square feet is considered a “tiny house”? Dear readers, I’ve been asking myself this question ever since I discovered this luxurious 774 square foot prefab home on Amazon.
According to a tiny house owner featured in Women’s Health (so cool, right?!), any home under 1,000 square feet is generally acceptable for “purists who aren’t too into tiny houses” — and I totally fit that description, so I’ll stick with that.
This not-so-tiny house is the work of Q-haus, a European company that specializes in prefabricated timber structures. (So you know their homes are good quality.) This cottage is especially unique because it has not one, not two, but three bedrooms (!!), a bathroom with a sauna or bathtub, a living room, and an open-plan kitchen and dining area. The open-plan living concept that every house hunter dreams of can be realized in a tiny house? It’s unbelievable. It’s so shocking.
Plus, it’s fully customizable, meaning you can work with the company to change certain aspects of your home, like interior and exterior materials, and the layout of your sauna or hot tub. Once all the important details (like luxury furniture) are finalized and the tiny home is purchased for $105,000, it’s delivered in two parts, so you don’t have to do much DIY.
It was also designed with Mother Earth’s sensibilities in mind. Not only does this tiny home (and I mean that) have windows on both sides, allowing you to rely mostly on natural light, but it is also designed to be as energy efficient as possible.
Picture this: a cup of hot cocoa in hand, tucked under a fleece blanket, looking out over the snowy slopes from the comfort of your mini-cabin. Wow! If that’s not your thing (a little confusing, but okay), you can always move the “cool house” to the backyard and use it as a modest entertaining space — after all, it can sleep eight.
Okay, now I’m jealous. This not-so-small house is so much nicer than my apartment, which I guess also counts as a small house…?
