One of the biggest interior design trends in 2025 will be an increased focus on wellness at home. The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune on an outdoor sauna or a plunge pool to enjoy these benefits. I’ve always been a health enthusiast (blame my former college athlete days), and lately I’ve been hearing the term “biohacking,” which refers to using science, nutrition, and modern technology to help our bodies function more efficiently and improve our overall health and well-being. This got me thinking about how I could biohack my home.Portrait of young beautiful girl with clean fresh skin isolated on white background. Closed eyes. Beauty and health lifestyle.
The first thing I did was get rid of anything with harsh chemicals (let’s be honest, the cleaning products I used to use were really bad; here are some I love using now). Then I switched from plastic food storage containers to glass ones. I adjusted my diet. I bought a HEPA air purifier. After that, I started researching products that could improve lymphatic drainage and promote detoxification. One thing that keeps popping into my head? An infrared sauna blanket.
It may seem counterintuitive, but the benefits of regularly using an infrared sauna cannot be overstated (and research shows that it is!). Infrared saunas promote muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, relieve stress, improve cardiovascular health and circulation, and even improve sleep quality. This is said to be because it can burn calories, induce sweating, and promote detoxification and weight loss. After doing a ton of research and reading hundreds of reviews, I finally decided on the HigherDose Infrared Sauna Blanket.
Sure, $699 is a bargain, but I appreciate that the company offers a generous 30-day money-back policy if I don’t like it. Spoiler alert: My sauna blanket wasn’t returned. In fact, I noticed noticeable changes right away (my skin was more radiant, I felt lighter, and my anxiety was more manageable), and it’s since become my go-to wellness habit. After a week or two of regular use (I try to do about 20 minutes a day), I also noticed a reduction in muscle soreness after high-intensity workouts.
The biggest change I’ve noticed this winter, however, is my mood. While I don’t think I have severe seasonal affective disorder (SAD), I hate cold weather and get into the winter blues when it starts getting dark at 5pm. My sauna blanket has completely changed my mood and I look forward to shedding my layers of winter clothes, climbing into my sauna blanket and sweating every night. I take a cold shower afterwards and swear that every time I do this little healthy habit, I feel happier and sleep better.
If you’re thinking about buying a sauna blanket, act now! It’ll be the best steam experience of your life — and who knows, you might even biohack your home into a healthier place. Are you ready? Use coupon code VERANDA20 to get 20% off all sitewide purchases over $200 (excluding combo packs).
