Is your living room decor feeling a little dull? Why not try a few small touches to give it a fresh, new look without spending too much money.
As we continue to isolate at home, it becomes even more important to create a comfortable and inspiring space to make our time at home as enjoyable as possible. After all, since the living room is the most used public space in our home, we want it to meet our new or existing needs, whether it’s getting ready for work or creating a calm place to relax.
Clotilde Passalacqua, Interior Design Manager at IKEA UK and Ireland, shares four easy and inexpensive ways to decorate your living room.
“Textiles are a quick way to freshen up a living room,” says Clotilde, who recommends IKEA’s INGABRITTA blanket for its woven design and soft texture. “In addition to blankets, you can also add new cushion covers and mix and match different colors and textures to add a new dimension to your sofa or armchairs.”
House Beautiful writes: Investing in cushion covers instead of buying new cushions is a really affordable way to update your space. Perfect for changing up your look each season or just when you’re in the mood for a change of scenery. H&M also offers a wide range of cushion covers to suit any decor.
“Adding new plants or changing their placement in a room can change the mood of the space,” explains Clotilde.
Live or faux plants are a great way to add a fresh splash of color to a room and create an outdoor ambiance. “Replacing planters is also a quick and effective way to change the look of a space by adding new colors and textures,” she adds.
“Just by hanging a few new photos or prints, you can create a new visual focal point in the room,” says Clotilde. If you haven’t decided what to hang yet, a hanging photo wall is a good option, as you can easily change the placement and arrangement of photos whenever and wherever you want.
House Beautiful writes: Now is the time to print out those photos from your phone that you never got around to printing. Every picture needs a frame, so shop our selection of the best frames. Whether you need a single frame to hang or a set of frames to create a gallery wall, we have options for every budget.
“Beauty is also in the details, and updating the handles on your doors and cabinets can add a touch of sophistication to your room,” says Clotilde.
