As the editor of the Shopping section, the question I get asked most often is: which designer bags are actually worth the investment? Of course, there are many interpretations of this question, and the answer will depend heavily on your budget, wardrobe needs, and tastes. However, if you’re a natural bargain hunter like me, you’ll appreciate items that offer great value for money, which is why JW Anderson’s felt tote bag has been such a hit with me this season.
I’ve always loved JW Anderson’s experimental approach to womenswear, but like many fashion brands, the bags they sell are expensive. But then along came this gem, which retails for under £400. Of course, I have to admit that “affordable” is a relative term, but in the world of designer bags, £375 is definitely the bare minimum. (Also, to be fair, I bought this bag using a coupon.)
Large enough to hold a laptop, water bottle, notepad, and snacks (these are essentials, right?), it’s the perfect combination of style and substance. While I’m not a huge fan of the OTT logo, I do like the earthy charm of the JW crest embroidered on the front, which creates a nice textural contrast with the leather handles. It’s the little details that make me think so, from the hardware on the clasp and tie buckle to the large internal pockets and the durable leather strip on the bottom of the bag. Honestly, this is not a #sponsored bag. I absolutely love this bag and will be using it for work and play this year and for years to come.
