I think there are a lot of sauna hats out there, but honestly I never thought I would want one. I didn’t think I needed the features and I couldn’t find a design that suited me.
Designer Masayuki Ino, a lover of the Doublet sauna, teamed up with KIJIMA TAKAYUKI and renowned hat maker MIDWEST to create this hat.
The embroidery appears to have burned. According to Mr. Ino, “I stayed in a hot sauna for a long time, and it was so hot that even my hat caught fire. It looks like it’s burned! I think that’s what it looks like.”
The material is a blend of Kuura®, a cellulose fibre sourced from sustainably harvested forests in Finland, and recycled polyester.
“It feels like you’re being enveloped by the forests of Finland, the sauna mecca,” Mr. Ino said. I’m not sure what he meant, but he sounded very confident.
In addition, the highly effective thermal insulation material Thinsulate used in the padding allows you to enter the sauna slowly, which means it is easier to TOTON (recuperate). If such a coating were present in the sauna, it would be very annoying.
But the point is that it’s balanced enough to wear around town and is a versatile appetite stimulant.
